About RespAir Sleep Our Mission

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) can be life-threatening if left untreated, yet it often goes undiagnosed. Most people don’t even know they suffer from OSA. Good sleep is vital to health, yet millions are deprived; their sleep is interrupted by their body waking up to breathe.

At Respair Sleep, we realized that “one size does not fit all” in sleep apnea treatments. CPAP is the gold standard for treating sleep apnea; however, not everyone can tolerate it. Many patients end up not using their CPAPs and therefore go without treatment.

At RespAir Sleep, we aim to offer additional and/or alternative sleep treatment options. Respair Sleep is here to give sleep apnea sufferers an alternative solution to treating sleep apnea.

RespAir, do not despair; there is always hope.

Dr. Ashley DeSaix

Meet Our Founder Dr. Ashley S. DeSaix, DDS, MPH

Dr. Ashley DeSaix was born and raised in North Carolina. She received her undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University, her master’s degree in public health from East Carolina University, and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

After practicing family and cosmetic dentistry for a few years and starting and operating a successful dental office, Dr. DeSaix sold her practice and decided to pursue treating sleep, breathing, and TMJ disorders from a dentist’s perspective. Sleep and breathing disorders are medical problems, and dentists can help medical teams by providing treatments and devices (mandibular advancement devices) that can assist in treating these issues. Dr. DeSaix loves all aspects of dentistry, however, this is where she is called to help most.

Dr. DeSaix completed a mini-residency in 2018 at UNC for Sleep and TMJ disorders. She is also a:

  • Diplomat of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine
  • Diplomat at the American Academy of Sleep and Breathing
  • Member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine
  • Provider of HealthyStart® for sleep and breathing conditions in kids
  • Dream Sleep Certified

Dr. DeSaix has received extensive training in sleep, breathing, and TMJ disorders and will always continue learning; she considers herself a lifelong learner. She also loves traveling and tries to do that as much as possible. However, her favorite activities involve her kids. In fact, if she is not working, she is likely in the carpool line at her kids’ school or hanging out with her family.

Dr. DeSaix founded RespAir Sleep to offer patients more options for improving their sleep, breathing, and ultimately their life. Sleep is vital, and without it, nothing else matters.
