oral appliance therapy

Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT)

Oral appliances for sleep apnea use custom dental impressions to create appliances that fit perfectly over the patient’s teeth, making them very comfortable to wear. These appliances help to keep a patient’s airway unobstructed throughout the night, even when the muscles in their throat relax. Many patients choose oral appliance therapy because custom oral appliances are cost-effective and easy to use, clean, and transport.

Combined Therapy
(Oral Appliance and CPAP)

Combined therapy, or hybrid therapy, combines the benefits of CPAP and oral appliance therapy to provide patients with a highly effective treatment plan for sleep apnea. The custom oral appliance keeps the patient’s airway open and unobstructed, while the CPAP machine ensures that oxygen is flowing and reaching the patient’s lungs consistently throughout the night. Combined therapy can be especially helpful for patients with severe cases of sleep apnea.

Oral Appliance Therapy for
Kids (HealthyStart®)

While sleep apnea is more common in adults, it can affect patients of all ages, including children. Our office provides HealthyStart oral appliances for children, which help treat sleep apnea in kids and straighten their teeth simultaneously. Treating sleep apnea at a young age will not only help your child sleep better and perform better in school, but it can help widen their airway, reducing the severity of their sleep apnea issues now and in the future.

snoring treatments

Snoring Treatments

At RespAir Sleep, we always want to address the root cause of our patient’s issues instead of just treating the symptoms. If you suffer from chronic snoring, we will help you determine what is causing your snoring and find a treatment option that works well for you. Snoring can lead to a lower quality of sleep, just like sleep apnea, for you and the people in your household. Our practice can create custom nightguards for patients who snore, but do not have sleep apnea.

Muscle Treatments

Orofacial myofunctional therapy can be an excellent addition to any sleep apnea treatment plan. These simple exercises for your mouth and face muscles help strengthen and tone the muscles of the throat, soft palate, and tongue to reduce the severity of a patient’s sleep apnea. While this type of therapy may not be sufficient in treating a patient’s disordered sleeping completely, it can work well in conjunction with other treatments to improve the patient’s quality of sleep.

exciteosa

eXciteOSA®

eXciteOSA is an oral appliance for snoring and sleep apnea that is worn by patients for just 20 minutes per day for a six-week period. This device provides neuromuscular electrical stimulation to the tongue and upper airway muscles to help stimulate and strengthen them. eXciteOSA is a safe and effective therapy for patients who want a quick and easy alternative to sleep apnea devices that have to be worn at night. The device also comes with an app that allows the patient to track their progress and adjust their treatment as necessary.
