Your care includes fitting, adjustments and follow-up.

Dr. DeSaix reviews your sleep study and health history and examines your teeth and jaw.

Fitting, adjustments, and follow-up help us evaluate comfort and your response to treatment. We coordinate with your medical or sleep team, including follow-up sleep testing when appropriate, to assess effectiveness.

Jaw or tooth discomfort, saliva changes, and bite changes can occur. Fitting, careful adjustment, and ongoing follow-up are important parts of care.

Oral appliance treatment for obstructive sleep apnea requires a physician’s diagnosis and prescription, followed by a dental evaluation. Do not stop prescribed therapy without speaking with your medical provider.

Do I need an evaluation before choosing a ProSomnus appliance?

Yes. Oral appliance treatment for obstructive sleep apnea requires a physician’s diagnosis and prescription, followed by a dental evaluation. Dr. DeSaix reviews your sleep study and health history and examines your teeth and jaw to see whether an appliance is right for you.

What if CPAP is difficult for me to use?

For adults with obstructive sleep apnea who cannot tolerate CPAP or prefer an alternative, a sleep physician may consider a custom oral appliance. CPAP generally reduces breathing events more effectively; suitability for an appliance depends on your individual evaluation. Do not stop prescribed therapy without speaking with your medical provider.

What happens after the appliance is fitted?

Fitting, adjustments, and follow-up help us evaluate comfort and your response to treatment. We coordinate with your medical or sleep team, including follow-up sleep testing when appropriate, to assess effectiveness. Jaw or tooth discomfort, saliva changes, and bite changes can occur, so ongoing dental follow-up is important.

How do I check insurance and get started?

Oral appliance therapy for sleep apnea is generally handled through medical insurance, rather than routine dental benefits. Our team can review your benefits and expected costs before treatment.
